WELCOME TO THE 2014/15 SEASON OF
THE GALWAY MUSIC RESIDENCY
Our Lunchtime @ the Library Concert Series in association with Galway City Library, continues to draw large, enthusiastic and diverse audiences. The new theme is 'From Wigs to iTunes', featuring Haydn Strings Quartets with contemporary works by international composers. These free events take place the first Tuesday of each month in the Galway City Library, St. Augustine Street. For those who cannot make it into the City Centre, there will be events in other city and county libraries. ConTempo will also perform in the West Side, Ballybane, Ballinasloe, Portumna, and Clifden Libraries during the season.
A focus on new music with creative partnerships will take place in the new season. We continue with a series of events with NUI Galway featuring music selected to integrate with talks about architecture, history and art. Look for events in the new Life Course Institute Building and Aras Moyola. There will also be a partnership with NUI Galway's Creative Writing Programme and a collaborative project with the Galway City Dance Artist in Residence. Innovative music will be presented in Galway City Museum, conveniently located in the heart of Galway and in the Blue Note Pub where ConTempo team up with DJ Anthony C.
In the area of Education, our Apprentice Ensemble programme continues with two uniques groups - the Elwood Guitar Quartet from NUI Maynooth and the Brennan-Cahill Saxophone-Piano Duo from the DIT. All musicians will have monthly mentoring sessions and extended performance activities including a Lunchtime @ the Library concert in April featuring Ellwood.
There will be Primary School (Galway Education Centre and schools in Portumna, Ballinasloe and Clifden) and Leaving Cert Workshops (Dominican College, St. Enda's and schools in Portumna, Ballinasloe and Clifden) PLUS activities for 3rd level students (NUI Galway).
The board and staff, along with The Galway Ensemble in Residence, ConTempo Quartet welcome you to join us during this exciting year. We look forward to seeing you at our performances and activities. For further information, contact us at 091 586706 or firstname.lastname@example.org
