Apprentice Ensembles Programme

The Apprentice Ensemble scheme, now in its 11th year, offers frequent mentoring sessions with ConTempo Quartet and performing opportunities to emerging, talented young performing groups.

The 2016/2017 Apprentice Ensembles are:

Flute and Soprano duo, Miriam Kaczor and Lorna Breen

Miriam Kaczor (flute) and Lorna Breen (soprano) met in the Royal Irish Academy of Music and first started working together in 2014, searching out obligato flute Bach arias. Since then, they have played together as often as possible. Most recently, they performed two recitals in the Guildhall School of Music as well as the National Opera House in Wexford. Last year Miriam and Lorna arranged songs by Canteloube for flute, clarinet and piano and performed in the Mansion House for the John McCormack Society, in the prescence of the Lord Mayor.

The Amoroso Quartet

The Amoroso Quartet were formed in 2016 by 4 musicians seeking an outlet for their love of chamber music. Based in Limerick, the are currently exploring works for string quartet by Mendelssohn, Borodin and Beethoven.

The members of the quartet are:

Marieclaire Brodie and Renee Neeson (Violins)
Tara McCarthy (Viola)
Gary Doherty (Cello)

Viola and Piano duo, Eilish Devine & Maja Elliott

Though neither are Galway natives, Eilish Devine (viola) and Maja Elliott (piano) have both settled in the city of tribes and it is here they are pursuing careers in music as performers, educators and accompanists.
