Back by popular demand, the Galway Music Residency presents the spring 2018 series of 3 Saturdays: 3 Kinds of Music. This unique set of concerts will feature the Galway ConTempo Quartet and some of Ireland’s best emerging and established musicians over three dates.

On 30th March, the Galway Music Residency will present a programme bursting at the seams. The Commons, Nick Roth’s 8-piece jazz ensemble, take to the stage with a musical commentary on Brexit. This group comprises of some of Ireland’s best jazz musicians: Matthew Berrill (saxophones), Nick Roth (saxophones), Maria Lamburn (bass clarinet), Neil Yates (trumpet), Kieran Mcleod (trombone), Huw Warren (piano), Dave Redmond (double bass) and Zoot Warren (drums). Following this electric performance, we will hear from Conor Connolly (accordion), TG4’s young musician of year for 2019, who will be joined by Andrea Palandri (fiddle) for a traditional set, while ConTempo Quartet will be joined by curator Matthew Berrill to perform Nick Roth’s quintet for bass clarinet and string quartet.
