The Galway Music Residency is delighted to announce its new series in association with the Contemporary Music Centre – Music & Musings. This series of short concerts featuring the Galway ConTempo Quartet, emerging and established composers from Ireland and guest artists, begins on Friday 20 October at 8.30pm in the Black Gate Cultural Centre. The series will present high quality chamber music in an intimate setting, along with opportunities to eat, drink and meet the artists and composers.
Music and Musings first concert includes performances of Kevin Volans seminal quartet, White Man Sleeps and movements from Bartok's string quartets (Non troppo lento from String Quartet No. 4, Andante from String Quartet No. 5, Adagio Molto from String Quartet No. 5) with lively discussion on the works, led by CMC's Linda O'Shea Farren in conversation with composer Jane O'Leary and members of the ConTempo Quartet.
