ConTempo teams up with NUIG Orchestra

The Galway ConTempo Quartet worked with the NUI Galway Concert Orchestra during the spring semester through sectional tutorials and orchestral rehearsals to assist in developing a beautiful concert repertoire. On Saturday 21st April, GMR was delighted to present the Galway ConTempo Quartet as part of the orchestra's Spring Concert in the Black Box Theatre, where this hard work came to fruition.

GMR announces new Music & Musings series

The Galway Music Residency is delighted to announce that it will present another Music & Musings series this summer in association with the Contemporary Music Centre. This series of concerts featuring the Galway ConTempo Quartet, and established composers from Ireland, begins on Thursday 10th May at 8.30pm in the Black Gate Cultural Centre. The series will present high quality chamber music in an intimate setting, along with opportunities to eat, drink and meet the artists and composers.

It is with great regret that the Galway Music Residency has learned of the passing of Board Member Dr Chris Coughlan.

Paying tribute to Chris, Dr Michael Cuddy, Chair said, "It is with great sadness that we learned of Chris's passing. As an active member of the Board of the Galway Music Residency, Chris made a significant contribution to the organisation's development. On behalf of the Board and staff, we extend our sympathies to his family and friends at this time."
