3 Saturdays: 3 Kinds of Music concludes
The Galway Music Residency’s Autumn 3 Saturdays: 3 Kinds of music series concludes this Saturday 4 November at 11am in the urban surrounds of the series' temporary home, the Niland Gallery. This unique set of concerts has featured the Galway ConTempo Quartet and some of Ireland’s best young musicians.
This Saturday, the audience, as ever, will experience an eclectic mix of classical, contemporary and Irish traditional music. The Galway ConTempo Quartet will continue their exploration of ‘Three Great Classical Masters’, performing Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 1 in F major, Op. 18, No. 1.
This week’s concert will also feature clarinet virtuoso Kristýna Petišková originally from Prague. Kristýna is currently studying at both Trinity College and at DIT Conservatory of Music under Paul Roe. This Saturday she presents an elegant and varied programme for the clarinet. We will also hear from traditional Irish musicians and Galway natives Ciara & Sinead O’Connor (cello & fiddle) who will perform a selection of traditional tunes, and arrangements of folk tunes from Ireland and further afield.Supported by NUI Galway (Education Partner of the Galway Music Residency), the Arts Council, Galway City and County Councils and GMIT, admission to these events are free, open to all, family friendly and early arrival is recommended. Donations are welcome.
