Gerald Barry Leaving Cert Workshop

As part of our Education remit, the Galway Music Residency is pleased to present a workshop for Leaving Cert music students and teachers on Gerald Barry's Piano Quartet No. 1. The workshop will be facilitated by Ingrid Nicola of ConTempo Quartet and education consultant Kim Fallen Bailey of the Royal Irish Academy of Music on 8th March and again on 9th March.

The workshop will take place on Friday 8th March at 3.30pm in Scoil Croi Iosa and will be repeated on Saturday 9th March at 3.30pm in the Emily Anderson Concert Hall, NUI Galway (no step-free access). The cost of attending the workshop is €10 for students and teachers. For bookings please contact info@thegalwaymusicresidency.ie.

Attendees of the workshops are also invited to a special concert on Saturday 9th March 9th in the Emily Anderson Concert Hall - What Even is Irish Contemporary Music? ConTempo Quartet along with pianist Aileen Cahill will perform Barry's Piano Quartet No. 1 as well as works by living Irish composers Ian Wilson, Jane O’Leary, Deirdre McKay, Greg Caffrey and Frank Corcoran will be presented in easily digestible chunks. Listening points will be provided by the musicians to give the audience a fuller experience.
