Lunchtimes with ConTempo return!

It’s a new year and the Galway Music Residency is delighted to be back with the first Lunchtime with ConTempo of 2017 today at 1:10pm! This popular series, which takes place in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church, focuses on the late string quartets of Joseph Haydn (1732-1809).

The Galway ConTempo Quartet will perform String Quartet Op. 76, No. 5 next Tuesday, the fifth work in Haydn’s last complete set of string quartets, which the composer dedicated to the Hungarian count, Joseph Georg von Erdődy. This string quartet is often given the nickname ‘Largo’ in honour of its beautiful second movement, which sets the tone and character for the entire work.

Supported by The Arts Council, NUI Galway and Galway City and County Councils, admission to this event is free, open to all and early arrival is recommended. Lunchtimes with ConTempo will take place on the first Tuesday of each month (September-June excepting January). For further information, visit
